The calculators and reference pages under /tools are educational estimates. Here is what that means, and what using or linking to one does and does not do.

These terms and the site's
These terms supplement the site's Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Disclosures, which apply to the tools as they apply to everything else on this site. Where these terms and the site's terms say different things about the tools, these terms control. By using a tool, or by linking to or displaying one, you accept both.
What the tools are
Each tool is a self-help calculator or reference for your own independent use. It applies a published rule, a rate table, or a set of official figures to the numbers you enter, and it shows its sources. The point is to make a rule visible, not to tell you what to do about it.
What the tools are not
They are not investment, tax, or legal advice, and they are not a substitute for it. A result is an estimate under stated assumptions, and it will vary with each use and over time as the inputs, the law, and the figures behind it change. Each tool is a simplified model, not your actual tax return or plan. It only knows what you enter, leaves out rules that may apply to you, and cannot weigh the other facts and trade-offs a real decision depends on. A result may not fit your circumstances, and we cannot promise that it is accurate or complete for you. Every example on these pages is hypothetical and exists to illustrate a mechanism. Please do not act on a figure from a tool without a qualified professional, an attorney, a CPA, or an adviser who knows your situation, checking it against your own facts.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
The tools are provided as they are and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Figures change when the law changes, and errors are possible; each page records when it was last reviewed. To the fullest extent the law allows, Considerate Capital, LLC is not liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, that arises from using a tool, from relying on a result, or from a tool being unavailable, changed, or withdrawn.
Who we are, and what the tools cover
Considerate Capital, LLC is a registered investment adviser in the State of Illinois. Registration does not imply any level of skill or training. The Illinois tools describe Illinois law only; the federal figures are federal law as of the date shown on each page. Nothing here is tailored to any other state or to any person. The firm's disclosures say more about how we are registered and how we work.
No adviser relationship
Using a tool does not make you a client and does not create an advisory relationship with Considerate Capital, LLC. Advisory services are offered only under a written agreement, and only to residents of the states where we are registered or exempt from registration.
The site you came from
Other websites may link to a tool, open it in a window, or display it inside their own page. A site that does so is not affiliated with Considerate Capital, and we do not review, endorse, or take responsibility for what that site says or recommends. That site's own terms and privacy policy govern that site; displaying a tool there does not make us a party to anything on it. The one exception is our own site, consideratecapital.com. Nothing about how you reached a tool changes the terms here.
Your numbers
What you type into a calculator stays in your browser. It is not sent to us or stored by us. When a tool is displayed inside another site's page, we load no analytics or tracking there at all. When a tool is opened on its own, as a window or a page on our site, the site's cookie policy applies to the page around it.
Permission to link to and display the tools
We give websites and their authors a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to link to any tool, to open it in a window from their own page, and to display a calculator inside their page. The conditions: the attribution and this notice stay intact and visible; the tool is not modified, cropped, or presented without its name and ours; it is not sold, bundled, or offered as anyone else's work; and it is not presented in a way that suggests Considerate Capital endorses the site, its services, or its advice. No reciprocal link is expected. We may change, correct, or withdraw a tool at any time, and we may withdraw this permission, for any site or for all sites, at any time.
Ownership
The tools, their calculations, text, tables, charts, and the way they are presented belong to Considerate Capital, LLC. The permission above is the only use we grant; the site's Terms of Service cover intellectual property in full. The public rules and official figures the tools draw on are, of course, not ours.
Changes, corrections, and contact
We may change these terms and the tools at any time; the dates at the top of this page tell you when. Continuing to use, link to, or display a tool after a change means you accept it. Corrections are welcome by email, and each tool page records what changed and when.
